Mariah Carey to Perform at Boyfriend’s Crown Casino Melbourne for New Year’s Eve

Over the last 25 years, Mariah Carey has become one of the most admired and unequivocally talented musical artists of our time. Her first Christmas album alone went 5x Platinum in Australia and the United States. Now, for more than 1,000 lucky patrons of the Crown Casino in Melbourne, the 5x Grammy Award winning vocalist will appear to perform live at the casino’s New Year’s Eve party.

Before you get your hopes up too high, don’t bother trying to get a ticket. The show has already sold out. You could possibly get lucky and purchase one from a forward-thinking scalper, but the cost will surely be tremendous.

Mariah Carey and her band are set to perform the headline act of the New Year’s Eve show at Crown Casino, in front of 1,200 boisterous fans. The show will take place in the Melbourne casino’s Palladium Ballroom, and is expected to include an eclectic mix of the “Hero” singer’s most beloved hits from the last two and a half decades.

The announcement should come as little surprise for anyone who follows the life and times of the A-list musical celebrity. Carey revealed in June that she was dating a billionaire beau, and he just happens to be James Packer, the owner of Consolidated Press Holdings Limited, which controls the Melbourne casino’s parent company, Crown Resorts.

While the relationship between Carey and Packer is only 5 months old in the public eye, it’s not exactly certain how long the two have been unofficially dating. When they went public in June, Mariah said the two originally met at a movie premier years ago, “hitting it off” splendidly. Then last month, the relationship escalated when, according to reports, Mariah (45) moved in with James (48), sharing their lives in his Hollywood mansion.

Thus, her appearance at one of his most renowned casinos isn’t exactly a shocker, and Mariah herself said she anticipated an “incredibly exciting” trip Down Under.

“I can’t wait to get back to Australia,” Carey told the press with great enthusiasm. “I have so many of my friends and fans there and the country really means so much to me.

“To be heading over for New Year’s Eve with James and to be able to put on a performance at Crown Melbourne – it’s incredibly exciting,” she said.

Packer confirmed he will be joining his celebrity girlfriend at the Crown Casino on December 31, 2015, so that they can ring in the New Year together. This marks their maiden voyage to Australia as a couple.

With an incredible 285 Music Awards under her belt, including 89 Billboard Music Awards, 20 AMA’s and 5 Grammy’s, Carey revealed that she intends to bring her 4-year old twins, Monroe and Moroccan, to Australia with them.

“Australia is such a wonderful country and being able to spend some time with James and my family in Melbourne, Sydney and Ellerston makes the trip so special,” said Carey.

This isn’t the first time Mariah Carey has worked her celebrity magic for her casino tycoon boyfriend. The two walked the red carpet, hand in hand, at the grand opening of the $4 billion Melco Crown Studio City Casino in Macau in October.
